Ch. 4 visits our studio to update heartbreaking story

WDIV Ch. 4 visited the “More Than Just Luck” podcast studio on Thursday afternoon to complete a heartbreaking story for Thursday night’s newscasts at 6 and 11 p.m.
Reporter Erika Erickson, who has led the TV station’s coverage of the alleged physical and sexual abuse at Vista Maria, interviewed Tabatha Kerr at Greg Wier’s studio in Livonia.
As first reported by the “More Than Just Luck” podcast, Kerr had her child’s $600,000 wrongful-death settlement stolen by lawyer Greg Rohl, who was disbarred effective Oct. 1, 2026 by the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board (ADB).
Kerr’s 3-year-old daughter, Lilliana, died on Jan. 20, 2017 when an unanchored, 350-pound folding cafeteria table fell on her inside a Head Start gym program housed at a church in Dearborn Heights.
“Lonely, empty, and hollow”
In the interview with Erickson, Kerr, 39, said she feels “lonely, empty, and hollow” since Lilliana’s death nearly 10 years ago.
She is now a safety advocate to push for Lilliana’s Law in Michigan. The proposed legislation aims to require annual health and safety inspections for all public and private school facilities.
“I am tired of being kicked while I’m down,” Kerr said.

Rohl responds to disbarment
Erickson also talked to attorney Rohl, who said he “never knowingly” took money from any client but admitted the account was in his name and “ultimately responsible for any loss.”
“After securing to Tabatha her share of proceeds, I developed a severe heart condition and left my practice during treatment,” Kerr said in a statement to Erickson.
“My now deceased partner and office manager assumed control of the firm. I trusted Angie who was also friends with Tabatha and who helped her spearhead the enactment of Lilliana’s Law.
“I wish only the best Tabatha and her family. Lilliana’s loss was horrific and this nightmare just compounds their loss.”
