It’s not every day that you get a death-threat message.

That’s what happened after Greg Wier’s podcast on an alleged sexual abuser was posted last week.

On the “More Than Just Luck” podcast on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, former Vista Maria resident Aliya said a male staff member inappropriately touched her at the all-girls facility.

On Monday, Aliya received a text message which began with a death threat: “When I see you, I’m going to kill your a–.”

The message called Aliya a “meth head a– b—-” and accused her of “plastering lies on social media” and “harassing our family.”

Wier addressed the death-threat message on Monday.

“It’s inevitable that people are going to lash out when you back a tiger into a corner,” Wier said. “Everybody’s invited on the podcast. He can tell his side of the story, so it’s not just one side.

“When you’re silent, I would say you’re guilty. If somebody accuses me of something, if I wasn’t responsible, I would speak up.

“All we’re trying to do is bring attention to a serious problem in Metro Detroit at an older facility that goes back decades. We’ve had countless girls tell their stories and power is in numbers.

“Don’t kid yourself. It’s gonna get worse for them before it gets better because no one takes accountability. This isn’t going away.”
